OKLAHOMA CITY – Today, Rep. Annie Menz, D-Norman, was named the 2026 Representative of the Year by the Oklahoma Veterans Council during the annual Veterans Awareness Day joint legislative session.

“This was such a surprise, and I'm deeply honored! The Veteran's Council does outstanding work, and I feel grateful to have this acknowledgment from this esteemed organization,” said Menz. “I am a proud third-generation Veteran, sister of a USMC Veteran, and former USMC spouse. I know firsthand the struggles and sacrifices our brave veterans and military families are facing, and I know a lot of folks in East Norman do as well. Oklahoma continues to be the most Veteran-friendly state, and I look forward to continuing to support legislation aimed at caring for our nation's heroes. I am proud to bring this honor to HD45, and I would like to dedicate it to all the Women warriors who stood watch, are currently standing watch, and those standing the eternal watch.”

Menz is the first Woman Veteran to be elected to the Oklahoma Legislature in state history, is a member of the Legislative Veterans and Public Safety Caucus and sits on the House Appropriations and Budget Transportation Subcommittee.
