PERSONAL:
Rep. Cynthia Roe has proudly represented House District 42 since her election in November 2018.
Born and raised in rural Osage County, Roe graduated from Shidler High School in 1977 and moved to Lindsay in 2003. She is a longtime medical professional with over four decades of experience in health care.
Roe has been a registered nurse since 1983 and a nurse practitioner since 2000. She earned an associate degree in nursing from Northern Oklahoma College, a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary of the Plains College and a master’s degree in nursing from Wichita State University through its acute care nurse practitioner program. She later completed a post-master’s certificate in family nurse practice from Wichita State.
Throughout her career, Roe has worked in a wide range of medical settings, including interventional cardiology, emergency medicine, critical care, hospital medicine and family practice. She currently works part-time in a rural health clinic in Lindsay, bringing firsthand experience to her work at the Capitol.
Roe serves as chair of the House Public Health Committee. She also serves on the A&B Health Subcommittee, the Health and Human Services Oversight Committee and the Agriculture Committee. She was appointed by the Speaker of the House to serve on the Select Committee to Review Mental Health Finances in 2025 and was also appointed as a Presiding Officer of the House.
Her legislative focus is on strengthening rural health care and expanding responsible, patient-centered health care options for all Oklahomans, drawing on her professional experience to shape practical policy.
Roe was appointed by Speaker Kyle Hilbert to the SAFE Board and is a member of the Garvin County Multi-Disciplinary Team as the Medical Representative. She is currently one of 24 selected nationwide as a member of the Milbank Fellow Program.
Her husband retired after more than 40 years in Oklahoma’s oil and gas industry, and together they raise cattle in rural Garvin and McClain counties. Roe is the mother of five children and grandmother to 10. Her youngest son is a Marine combat veteran who served in Afghanistan.
Outside of work, Roe enjoys running, fishing, spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She also served as a basketball official for 20 years. She also attends Christian Church in Lindsay.
