Why Intern with Us
As an intern, you'll collaborate with professional, non-partisan staff and State Representatives,
gaining invaluable experience in a dynamic environment. This internship provides a platform for you
to apply your knowledge and develop new skills, all while contributing to meaningful legislative work.
When to Apply
- > Best Time to Apply: Spring Semester (February - May)
- > Application Deadline: December 27, 2024
Who Can Apply
This program is open to students currently enrolled in a collegiate institution. To participate,
you must receive academic credit for the internship, either through an internship course or
an independent study approved by a professor or administrator.
What You'll Do
Interns take on a variety of essential tasks that provide a comprehensive understanding of the legislative process, including:
- > Conducting research on specific issues
- > Monitoring and reporting on committee meetings for legislators
- > Researching and drafting responses to constituent inquiries
- > Summarizing reports or bills
- > Assisting with mail and telephone contacts

How to Apply
To apply, connect with the Intern Coordinator to schedule your interviews. We recommend researching legislative topics that align with your interests and career goals.
Interview Process:
- > First Interview: Conducted over Zoom with the Intern Coordinator.
- > Second Interview: In-person with a Representative or Staff member working in your area of interest.
Bring the following to your in-person interview:
- > Your class/work schedule
- > Internship Course requirements/syllabus
- > An updated resume
- > Background check application (completed on the day of your interview)
